Keratex Hoof Putty is great for repairing holes in a horse's feet, allowing the owner to go out with confidence after the cavity has been plugged with hoof putty.
 
This is especially useful when your horse is recovering from an abscess, puncture or separation of hoofs.   It can be used in the following ways:
 
For plugging a small, non-infected puncture after thorough disinfection of the area, allowing you to leave immediately when the dressing is not needed
To plug a puncture or hole left after cleaning and draining an abscess, after thoroughly disinfecting the area when a dressing is needed, allowing you to leave with confidence after the dressing is removed
It is often used by farriers as an additional shock absorber and blanket when used between the lily pad and frog on ponies with spring grass issues.
To use, simply shape the adhesive putty in clean hands and press into the cavity until you have a thick plug for best results. Keratex Hoof Putty is a semi-permanent wax that seals and stabilizes hoof separation and also prevents dirt, mud and debris from getting stuck in the hole and damaging the recovery process. The adhesive filling mixture also disinfects, which makes it a perfect aid for convalescence after punctures, abscesses and cavities.
 
Please note that the Putty will be very hard in the tin as it will naturally harden to a hoof type consistency for best results, but will soften in your hands as you mold the desired shape before re-hardening in the hoof. Keeping the tub at room temperature before use or gently warming it in a bowl of warm (not very hot) water will also help extract the sealant from the can.
